In 2010 M3 held its first camp. Kelli Abel McLaughlin saw the first show and resolved that her three kids would be in camp the following year. They were and they brought their friends. And so it continued with more and more friends attending every summer. Kelli was often there too, sewing costumes and designing and applying makeup.

In 2021 at the age of 44, Kelli was unexpectedly diagnosed with Grade 4 Glioblastoma Multiforme. This terminal brain cancer diagnosis has a life expectancy of 15 months. She was then a wife, mother of 4, small business owner, active community member and passionate fund raiser. And she was still working with M3 Theatre Camp.

Needless to say, the growth and continuation of M3 Theatre Camp has been due in no small part to Kelli’s belief in our cause and capability. This scholarship has been developed in order to honor Kelli and her ongoing commitment to bettering everything that came within her grasp. She passed away at home on April 21, 2023, surrounded by her family.

We at M3 are honored to award this scholarship in her name to needing and deserving individuals.
